IPL team information- Bangalore royal challengers

Bangalore royal challengers finished with 7th place in IPL 2008. If you see the squad the team will definitely look like a test team. But this year they have got Kevin Peterson, jesse ryder and robin Uthappa. Kevin Peterson was named as captain this year because Dravid will not be available for the full season. As of now the team management is saying dravid will not play the full season due to some personal reasons but the actual story behind that is unknown. For this year’s IPL Bangalore royal challengers have named the squad. The team members are Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis, Mark Boucher, Dale Steyn, Dillon Du Preez, Cameron White, Nathan Bracken, Ross Taylor, Jesse Ryder, Roelof van der Merwe, Anil Kumble, Robin Uthappa, Praveen Kumar, Virat Kohli, Wasim Jaffer, Manish Pandey, Srivats Goswami, R. Sutheesh, Pankaj Singh, Vinay Kumar, Bhuvanesh kumar, Karan Sharma, Saurav Bandekar, Tinu Yohannan, Bharat Chipli, B. Akhil, Devraj Patil, J. Arun Kumar, K.P. Appanna, Sunil Joshi, Gaurav Dhiman, Jitendra Patil, Udit Patel, A. Mithun, S. Arvind, Kedar Jadhav, C.M. Gautam, Raju Bhatkal, Rajesh Bishnoi, Ishank Jaggi, Rohit Sabharwal and Kevin Peterson. This team’s owner is saying that we are no more a test team so we can expect something from this team for this year’s IPL.

IPL team information-Chennai super kings

Chennai super kings were the runners of the IPL 2008. They have the best captain in the world M.S.Dhoni. Their squad is a diversified one. For this season they have named Stephen Fleming as the coach replacing Kepler wessels. For this year’s IPL they have announced a 29 member squad. The team members are M.S.Dhoni (cap&wk), Muttiah Muralitharan, Matthew Hayden, Micheal Hussey, Albie Morkel, Makhaya Nitini, Jacob Oram, Stephen Fleming, Thilan Thushara, Andrew Flintoff, George Bailey, Parthiv Patel, Suresh Raina, Subramaniam Badrinath, Laxmipathy Balaji, Murali Vijay, Joginder Sharma, Manpreet Goni, Sudeep Tyagi, Viraj Kadbe, Shadab Jakati, R. Ashwin, Abhinav Mukund, Anirudha Srikkanth, S. Vidyut, P. Amarnath, Arun Karthik, N. Einstein, Suresh Kumar. Matthew Hayden will be available for the full season because he was retired from international cricket. Micheal Hussey will not be playing this year’s IPL because he wants to prepare for Ashes 2009. Jacob oram might also miss if he does not recover from Achilles tendon injury. This year because of Stephen Fleming’s absence as a player Murali vijay might open the innings with Matthew Hayden.

Harbhajan is back in IPL

Harbhajan after finishing a ban for five matches is back in IPL for the 2009 season. He is looking forward to it. Last year he was banned for five matches after having spat with the Punjab fast bowler sreesanth. Sreesanth was slapped in the ground for provoking harbhajan singh. After that incident he cried and priety zinta came to console him. A hearing was held for both the players. In the hearing harbhajan singh has been given a five match ban and sreesanth was left free with a warning. At that time Mumbai Indians team has only 5 matches to play in the first round. Since the team was not qualified for the semi final harbhajan singh was not seen in the IPL since then. Now the ban is over and harbhajan singh is happy that he is back in IPL. He was the captain of the Mumbai Indians team before sachin has come. During his tenure as captain he suffered and so is the team. After his good show in the New Zealand series harbhajan is hoping for a good return in IPL.

IPL‘s popularity over test cricket

As we all know Test cricket is the very old cricket. The image of the test cricket has been mainly damaged by IPL. Nowadays for test matches we hardly see crowd because after this IPL people get used to 20-20 format so they are interested to see test match for 5 days. And moreover IPL matches are usually held as day night matches so many people are attracted towards IPL. And the most important thing in IPL is people can see all kinds of players and also they can enjoy for full 4 hours. These things they cannot get in the test matches so test cricket’s future will be a question. Nowadays many of the teams are not willing to play test matches because if they have to play test they have to spend many days in tour and on the other hand if they play 20-20 they can finish their tour in 1 month and also they can get more salary. Now many of the countries are selecting players based on IPL’s performance. Even for the ashes they select players based on IPL’s performance. This clearly shows that IPL is gaining more popularity than test cricket.
